Rudd Adoption Research Program

Organizer

Graduate students and recent Ph.D.s with strong interest in a career involving adoption research are invited to participate in the 2017 Rudd Summer Adoption Research Institute, May 21 – 26, 2017 on the campus of UMass Amherst.

The Institute provides an opportunity for extended interactions and community-building among a small group of participants and research faculty. The Institute opens with a dinner on the evening of Sunday May 21, and closes following lunch on Friday May 26. All attendees are expected to participate throughout the week. Most days will end by 6:00 pm, but some evening activities will also be planned.

Methodological topics will be interspersed with discussions of adoption in global perspective, balancing the personal and professional, the history of adoption, research funding, and more.

Space is limited; we are using an application process to make sure that each participant is a good fit for the goals of the institute. A small cohort of graduate students and recent Ph.D.s will be selected to spend a week together with experienced adoption researchers to build expertise in some of the special methodological and statistical issues inherent in this field.
