Children Awaiting Parents (CAP) is excited to add the Hon. Donald J. Corbett Adoption Agency (CAA) as a program to provide services to families seeking to adopt children from the foster care system. The CAA will provide recruitment, training, and support services to families and children available for adoption.

Children Awaiting Parents, (CAP) has received approval from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services and the NYS Attorney General’s office, to open The Honorable Donald J. Corbett Adoption Agency.

The Agency will certify families residing in New York State to adopt children waiting in the U.S. foster care system nationwide.

CAP started as a grassroots organization around the kitchen table of adoptive moms in Rochester. The organization went on to revolutionize the adoption field by creating a national photolisting of waiting children that put a face to thousands of waiting children across the nation. Through the photolisting, creative recruitment strategies and personal assistance to pre-adoptive families, CAP’s staff of adoption experts have contributed to over 6,000 adoptions.

Now, as an adoption agency, CAP will provide all adoption services in-house, including adoption homestudies, child matching, placement supervision and post adoption support.

CAP will continue to photolist waiting children and advocate for families nationwide in addition to certifying local families to adopt. As an agency, CAP will take the next step to accomplish their mission of uniting waiting foster children with their forever families.
