Foster Care Agencies in New York State

Children’s Home of Jefferson County

Services Provided: The program recruits and trains prospective Foster Parents. Following a referral made by the appropriate county’s Department of Social Services, the program assists in youth placement. Once a youth is matched with a family, ongoing oversight, support, and casework services are provided.  All prospective Foster Parents are required to complete a ten-week certification program. To assist in times of crisis, prospective Foster Parents are also trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention. To ensure a continuum of learning, once certified, Foster Parents are required to attend ongoing trainings.

The House of the Good Shepherd

Services Provided: Looking for homes where kids who have experienced trauma can receive guidance, support and a caring family. You might be surprised at the diversity of our foster parent families. They might be young parents, empty nesters, single child families, or those unable to have children of their own. We especially encourage relatives of our children to consider foster care. We call it “kinship,” and it’s a wonderful way for a child to stay in familiar surroundings with people he or she knows.  In Utica area, call Jamie Andrews or Sue Novak at 315.235.7700.  In Watertown area, call Jason Hibbard or Gayle Reilly at 315.782.8064.
