We invite adult adoptees to join us for the day to explore these important topics with leading professionals in the field.

Workshop: Navigating Relationships, presented by Dr. Tom Rogat

Being separated from biological parents / family by adoption can have a profound affect on what adoptees believe about themselves and others. We will explore how these beliefs can impact important relationships by identifying some common, and often hidden, interpersonal patterns that may emerge across adoptees’ lives. The workshop will also address strategies for creating more meaningful and gratifying relationships.

Workshop: Grief & Loss, presented by Dr. Zoë Breen Wood

“Aren’t you lucky?! … that you were adopted?” This kind of message ignores the truth that the way to all adoption is through loss. For many adopted persons, this loss and associated grief is neither recognized nor addressed. In this session, we will talk about some of the typical losses that occur through adoption, how those losses may be experienced, and explore strategies for healthy grieving.
