Of the 20,091 children in New York State foster care, 5,172 (24.7%) have a goal of adoption, and approximately 1,000 are legally freed and waiting for an adoptive family. Members of the LGBTQ communities are needed as temporary or permanent parents to these children and youth more than ever.
This event, sponsored by the Central New York LGBTQ Child Welfare Coalition*, provides an opportunity to learn about the foster care and adoption process in an LGBTQ-affirming setting. Attendees will hear from LGBTQ parents who have gone through the process, pick up free information from local agencies, and network with other LGBTQ parents and prospective parents.

CNY LGBTQ Child Welfare CoalitionThe event is free and open to all. A light dinner meal will be provided. Training hours are available for foster parents.
