The North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC) is inviting adoption support group leaders to apply to attend a free three-day parent leadership and advocacy training in Minneapolis, Minnesota, May 5-7, 2017. Funded by Jockey Being Family® as part of NACAC’s Community Champions Network program, the training will be available to a limited number of leaders of new or existing parent support groups. Each parent support group must apply to send two attendees—one a new or emerging leader who has not previously attended a NACAC parent leadership training and the other an experienced leader (who may have previously attended a NACAC conference or leadership training). You must apply in teams of two with each attendee completing an application and noting their team member’s name.

At this event, parent leaders from all over the U.S. and Canada will come together to learn leadership skills, advocacy strategies, and expand their capacities. Among the topics covered will be:

  • developing leadership and advocacy networks
  • supporting adoptive parents online and in-person
  • enhancing group operations
  • advocating for post-adoption services
  • the effects of trauma and adverse childhood experiences on children and adoptive and foster parents

NACAC must receive your completed application by Monday, March 27.
