Protecting Household During COVID-19; Attempting to Achieve Some Clarity for Foster, Adoptive, Guardianship and Kinship Families
Dr.Candace L. Johnson, MD is Board Certified in Pediatrics with an expertise in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. She has served as the Hospital Epidemiologist at Columbia Irving University Medical Center/New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital since July of 2019 as well as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Attending Physician at Columbia University Irving Medical Centers since 2017.
We’ll be talking about:
- Advice to give to families when they take home children known to have COVID-19.
- What is the true risk to other household members when possible exposure of newly entering children is unknown.
- How to keep all in the family safe when teens and young adults take risks.
- How can we ensure that family and home visits are as safe as possible?
- What should we be doing for children and family whose health is compromised?
- What should we do if our family gets sick with the virus.
- Virus testing and questions such as how reliable and what does negative really mean?
- Risk and policy issues such as does the crisis in that child’s family necessitate the removal during the pandemic?
