Adoption & 3rd Party Reproduction

The purpose of this workshop is to provide a small, safe setting, to BEGIN to discuss the emotional and social issues of the journey from infertility to alternative family options.

The focus of this workshop will cover:  

• The complicated losses of infertility.            
• Similarities and differences between having a child by birth from adoptions and 3^rdparty reproduction. 
• Life-long developmental issues for families formed by these alternative family building options.

I have been in private practice for over 30 years. In addition to general psychotherapy,I have specialized in infertility, adoption and third party reproduction.  I have been a support group leader for RESOLVE.  In addition to counseling pre and post adoptive families, I have counseled birth parents and adopted persons. I have counseled individuals and couples considering forming their family by 3rd party reproduction and have worked with parents and their child who are theirs by third party reproduction     

I have presented at workshops and conferences including the 92nd Street Y, Harvard Adoption Conference, American Adoption Congress, and International Post Adoption St. John’s conference.  I have assisted in the post adoption training program for mental health professionals with Dr. Joyce Maguire Pavao. I have written articles for magazines and have been featured in the documentary “Adopted: We Can Do Better” in the segment”Infertility: A Complicated Loss”.
