Ali Palmatier has worked in the child mental health field for 15 years. Her professional experience, especially at the Astor Services for Children & Families residential program, has enabled her to experience child mental health from a variety of angles. She has worked closely with birth families, adoptive families, foster families, kinship families, community service providers, the department of social services, Family Court system, school district’s CSC, special- education teachers, clinicians, direct care workers, psychiatric hospitals, SPOA committees, doctors, and psychiatrists.
In addition to her professional experience, Ali is a foster and adoptive parent through the Ulster County Department of Social Services. As a parent, she has personal experience with most of the providers listed above. She knows firsthand how difficult it is to stay strong, parent children with special needs, and navigate the system. She has always been passionate about caring for< children in need. Over the years, Ali has become equally passionate about the adults who care for the children.
Ali Palmatier received her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2000. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Adelphi University in 2006, and earned her LCSW in 2016.
