Thanks to a grant from the Ira DeCamp Foundation, the Coalition has an incredible opportunity to produce a brand-new version of its popular Foster Parents Speak video.

We have partnered with Photosynthesis Productions (PSP) to produce the video. We had a great response to the initial filming during the most recent 29th Annual Foster Care and Adoption Conference this past May. We’ll be coming to the Ithaca area at the end of the month and are looking to continue doing short interviews with foster parents interested in speaking about their experiences.

Specifically, we would like individuals who can speak about one or more of the following:

  • Their relationship with birth parents
  • Easing transitions for children
  • Supporting the birth parent and child after reunification
  • Handling visits
  • How you find support for yourself
  • What your challenges are
  • Working with the system

We definitely need to hear directly from more birth parents and we would very much like to speak to adoptive / foster parents and birth parents who have a positive working relationship.   We also need more dads to speak before the camera about their feelings and experiences.

Filming is scheduled for Friday, September 28th from 8 am to 5 pm and Saturday, September 29th from 8 am to 12 pm.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the form below. We will be in touch to confirm your participation.

Foster Parents Speak has been used to train foster parents throughout the county and the world (a large recent order came from the government of New South Wales in Australia!). Our goal is to create an updated video that conveys the heart, rewards and challenges of being a foster parent.
