Amy Drayer, the Director of Foster, Kinship and Parent Groups Services discusses the child-only grant which is also known as the non-parent caregiver grant.

This is something a kinship caregiver can apply for on behalf of the child or children in their home. This option is available when you are not foster but guardian or custodian. This Grant can be applied for via your local department of social service Temporary Assistance (TA) office or in New York City’s through ACS’s Human Resources Administration (HRA).

This benefit is generally available to all non-parent caregivers and includes Medicaid for the child.

The application used for Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance and Medical Assistance is the same application you will use to apply for the Child Only Grant.
