Susan started her work at the Coalition in April of 2017 as a Family Support Specialist.  In April of 2019 she accepted the position of Family Support Supervisor. Susan is an adoptive parent of seven amazing young adult children and is also a grandparent of nine grandchildren. Susan began her family as a foster parent in 1991.

Susan has been working in Human Services for 35 years in Tompkins County, NY. Her more recent work includes four years as a Case Worker for Tompkins County Social Services in the Adoption and Home finding unit, Adolescent Unit, Family Treatment Court and the Adult Protective Unit. She has also worked coordinating the Adolescent Respite Services for Liberty Resources, Inc.

Susan is also the owner of Camp Earth Connection.  Through Camp Earth Connection she has designed and provided children’s specialty camps including, “Adoption Connection” a camp for children who have been adopted.  Working with local not for profits such as Franziska Racker Centers and Greater Ithaca Activities Center she has provided programs including weekend respite camps for Adoptive Families and Village Camp, a free day camp for diverse families with limited income.

Susan holds a BS from Cornell University and a MS from SUNY Cortland.  She is grateful to be able to share her experience and knowledge and serve Adoptive and Guardianship families throughout the Central New York Region.  Susan values diversity and community, and believes that all people need a safe space where they are accepted and valued for who they are.
