AGAPE Hudson Valley serves families in Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster counties who have adopted a child or those that have become guardians of a relative’s child. By providing supportive services and connecting families to resources such as parent trainings, support groups for both parents and youths, peer mentoring, navigation for cross-system needs, therapeutic services referrals, counseling, or other supports to help families address issues as they arise, the AGAPE program helps post-adoptive and post-guardianship families through the unique challenges they face following an adoption or guardianship.
AGAPE’s services are provided free of charge. It is open for families who have adopted through foster care or private adoption whether domestically or internationally. Services are also available for those caring for a child through G docket guardianship. Whether it’s a simple question, a need for more training or a more challenging problem, we are here to guide you.

FRUA Hudson Valley New York

Service Provided: Local Chapter of Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption. FRUA focuses on international adoption support resources for families completed through adoption in Eastern European and Central Asian countries. FRUA provides a community that nurtures children and supports parents, family and adoption education resources, and the world-class FRUA National Education Conference.


Horses for a Change at Frog Hollow Farm

Services Provided: Equine assisted therapy for those on the autism spectrum as well as for children, adolescents and adults with assorted mental health needs including PTSD.  Founded in 1996 with a core of volunteers, we have been serving children and adults, individuals and groups in the Hudson Valley. We have a PATH certified instructor as well as a care coordinator to help with funding.  In addition, we often have grants that can be used. There is no guarantee, but we will do our best to help!  Clinical research suggests that therapeutic riding can help treat learning disabilities, depression, add/hd, autism, brain injury, and substance abuse.


Hudson Valley Special Education Parent Center

Services Provided: The Hudson Valley Special Education Parent Center, located at Westchester Institute for Human Development, offers information and resources about the special education process to parents of children with disabilities in the Hudson Valley region and is funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department. Services include Hear Our Voices – Self Advocacy Group Meetings and Community Support Network Family Learning Series. Mental Health Association in Ulster County

Services Provided: Services include family resource center, preventative programs, educational seminars, support groups, skill building courses, crisis intervention, newsletters, information and resource referrals, a community resource library, family support services, and professional training services to other community agencies.  The Family Support Resource Center assists families with children who have social, emotional or behavioral difficulties. Spence-Chapin Services to Families and Children

Services Provided: Spence-Chapin serves all people connected to adoption. Adoption-competent, trauma & attachment-informed therapy services offered in our Manhattan office and via video chat throughout New York and New Jersey. Ulster County Relatives as Parents Program ( RAPP )

Services Provided: The Relatives as Parents Program strives to make a difference in the lives of relative caregivers and the children they care for by providing education and support. RAPP is committed to assisting caregivers and youth in building and strengthening family ties. The Relatives as Parents Program is designed to assist grandparents and other relative caregivers who have taken on the role of primary caregiver for related children. RAPP provides education, training to learn new parenting and coping skills, mutual peer support groups, inter-generational activities, respite, referrals and access to appropriate community based services and resources.


Taconic DDSO – OPWDD

Services Provided: Family Support Services Coordinators are available at each of OPWDD’s regional Developmental Disabilities Services Offices (DDSOs) to help families access Family Support Services. Family Support Services can help in times of crisis when a family member or loved one becomes ill, or when things get difficult at home for other reasons.
