Abbott House

Services Provided: Therapeutic Foster Boarding Home Program (TFBH)  provides foster homes for special high-needs children and adolescents birth to 21 years of age. Once you contact Abbott House to become a foster parent, you will be invited to an orientation session which covers foster parenting. You will undergo a screening process which requires a background check, application process, provide medical history and physical exam, home study, and a training process. We also provide group residential services and day programs for developmentally disabled children and adults.


Astor Services TBH Program

Services Provided: The Therapeutic Foster Boarding Home Program has offices in Middletown (Orange) and Poughkeepsie (Dutchess) and serves an average of 30 children in the care of specially trained foster parents.  Both programs feature strong staff support to foster parents, and the provision of mental health and medical services directly by staff as well as through linkages with local providers. Berkshire Farm Center & Services for Youth – Albany

Services Provided: Berkshire Farm Center is a state wide agency providing foster homes for children in care.  Prospective foster parents receive comprehensive training and support through out the certification process.  Once certified our homes are supported by an assigned social worker, 24 hour emergency services, financial support to meet the chil(ren)’s needs.  Children range in age and special need requirements.  Aimee is foster care contact for capital region and southern NYS counties.


Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie

Services Provided: The Children’s Home operates a limited Foster Home program, primarily serving children and youth who have been in other more restrictive programs at the agency. Prospective foster families go through an application process, a home study process to become a certified family and a training process before a child or youth is placed in the home. Therapeutic foster homes provide intensive and supportive services to children and youth with significant medical, developmental, emotional, or behavioral needs, who, with additional resources can remain in a family setting and achieve positive growth and development.


Dutchess County Department of Social Services

Services Provided: 30 Hour MAPP training course held 2 x yearly in the spring and fall.  Orientation /information sessions held the 2nd Wednesday of every month. County requires school references if family has child currently enrolled in school and a mental health evaluation and or clearance.


Northern Rivers Family of Services

Services Provided: Northern Rivers Family of Services provides foster, kinship and pre-adoptive homes for children in care. Orientations and foster parent precertification trainings offered virtually and in person at one of the 7 program sites. These site locations are throughout the Capital Region, Hudson Valley, Mohawk Valley, North County and Southern Tier Regions. Each child and family is assigned a skilled Permanency Care Manager to provide case management service in the foster home with the foster parent and youth. St. Catherine’s Center for Children

Services Provided: Multi-service agency providing community based and residential services in Albany and therapeutic foster care (Albany, Kingston) for children who have emotional and behavioral needs that may be treated in a home setting by specially trained foster parents. Foster Parent Recruiting/Training, 10 week MAPP classes are held in the spring and Fall. Usually on a Monday evening from 6pm-9pm. Will provide individual training as needed. Call to schedule an intake appointment. Foster Parents receive on-going training, monthly paid respite, and 24 hour emergency services.
