2020 brought us COVID-19 and with it a clear and present illustration of the many ways our systems are ill equipped to care for people of color and other marginalized communities. Building on our seven years of momentum, LaSalle School invites you to join us for a day of challenging conversation that will move us from simply talking about trauma informed care to implementing meaningful action to promote anti-racist and truly trauma informed practices to improve health and wellbeing for all.

 

Through the years of the ACEs Symposium, we have explored the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences. In the beginning, we focused on the original ACE study, but soon expanded the content of the symposium to discuss workforce concerns, interventions for children and young people with ACEs, and examined the Pair of ACEs, which included the impact of community level variables on the brains and bodies of young people. In 2020, we continued to expand how we examined the impact of environment on a person’s life trajectory by discussing the impact of race and ethnicity on health and justice. This year’s ACE Symposium continues that dialogue by moving us from talking about trauma informed care to implementing meaningful action to promote anti-racist and truly trauma informed practices to improve health and wellbeing for all.

The content of this symposium applies to any person who works in a human services organization, works in an agency that provides services to clients/students/young people/their families/adults, county/state employees, court employees, etc. It is our belief that this information is important for everyone if we hope to have a better, healthier future.
