As many parents know, keeping up with the current language and trends in youth orientated culture can be a challenge. Keeping up with the ever changing issues and language with respect to LGBTQ+ youth can even create even greater questions for parents to consider.

This workshop will focus on practice wisdom to competently care for LGBTQ+ youth as parents in their home. The workshop will provide a safe space to discuss and to learn about caring for LGBTQ youth in family systems. The workshop will also discuss the ever changing lexicon of LGBTQ+ language and help parents to facilitate an understanding of those concepts with are critical in grasping the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ youth.

Presented by Gary Mallon, DSW, Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in New York City.
