YOUTH POWER! of Families Together in New York State is excited to host a FREE opportunity available for youth and parent/caregivers in the Capital District and Hudson Valley Region! 

Application Deadline has been extended for the 2018 Hudson River Region Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) and accompanying Foundations for Leadership Workshop for parent/caregivers taking place in Albany at the Hilton Garden Inn at Albany Medical Center! 

The deadline to apply/register for both opportunities is now Friday, August 31, 2018. 

FOR YOUTH: September 15-18, 2018 (Saturday through Tuesday) – YOUTH POWER!’s AMPLIFY-NY Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) for young people with disabilities to speak up, build skills, and prepare to take on leadership roles! The YLF is a safe, youth-friendly environment with plenty of fun activities to complement the wealth of knowledge being learned!  This 4-day, 3-night forum is FREE to attend and includes guest presenters/panel presentations, fun hands-on activities to practice leadership skills, and personalized leadership planning. Future leaders do not want to miss this opportunity to build leadership skills and become empowered with self-confidence and self-determination!

For Parents & Caregivers: September 15 AND 18, 2018 (Saturday and Tuesday) – Foundations for Leadership is a workshop series connected to the YLF is for parent/caregivers of youth with developmental and other disabilities to further develop their skills to support their youth develop into self-advocates and secure leadership roles.  Through this FREE workshop series that brings together both the family and youth perspective, we give caregivers the tools they need to support the young people in their care as a vital part of their transition team through teaching, modeling, and support. Parents/caregivers attend training on the first and last days of the YLF, and lunch is provided both days.

This opportunity is intended for youth and parents/caregivers in the following Hudson River Region counties:  Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Sullivan, Ulster, Warren, Washington, and Westchester.  If you reside outside these counties, you are welcome to apply if you are willing to make the trip!
