Andrea Marinelli has been a Certified Foster and Adoptive Parent in Suffolk County since 2003.
After three years of infertility treatments and wanting so badly to have a family, Andrea and her husband a decided to adopt. They fostered and adopted a sibling group of three; two boys and one girl ages two, three and four. Now, as a family, they provide stability, routine, and consistency along with support, knowledge, religion and family traditions.
As a Family Support Specialist with AGAPE, Andrea is compassionate about helping families have a voice in advocating for their children. She excels in providing resources and linkage within mental health providers, programs, and support groups in the community. A strong believer in empowering families to establish a solid support system using a positive family driven model, Andrea believes that education and parenting tools are needed, including techniques for coping skills and self-care, to reduce stress and strengthen family communication.
Andrea is a Credentialed Family Peer Advocate with the Office of Mental Health and a NAMI Basics Teacher offering free six week course to caregivers of children with mental illness. She is an Alumni of Long Island University at C.W. Post with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management.
