Marie Dolfi, LCSW will be presenting “Adoption Search and Reunion: A Clinical Perspective” for New York City National Association of Social Workers on Thursday, November 7, 2019. The training will be from 10 am- 5 pm at NASW’s office at 305 7th Avenue, 13 floor. The training is open to social workers who are NASW members and the general public.
The adoption search and reunion training will cover:
- 1) Reasons adoptees and birth parents do a search and reunion
- 2) Helping adoption triad members prepare for an adoption reunion
- 3) Understanding the complexities of reunion relationships, including trauma, boundary issues, and genetic sexual attraction
- 4) Society, adoption practices, and extended families influences on birth parents and adoptees
- 5) Key factors in successful reunion relationships
- 6) Adoption reunion stages
- 7) Social worker’s role in helping clients with their adoption search and reunion experiences
- 8) Therapy considerations for birth parents and adoptees in an adoption reunion
