Join Us in the AFFCNY NETWORK for an encoreĀ  Nine Week Discussion Series

Based on the Works of Brenda McCreight

After the amazing series over the summer we have decided to do an encore of the Brenda McCreight Adoption Series. Starting Saturday September 12 at 8:30 AM, we’ll spend an hour on Zoom on Saturday Mornings, learn and chat about topics related to our families. Please do join us!Ā

The late Brenda McCreight was a therapist, author, and consultant specializing in services for adoptive and foster families dealing with challenges such as FASD, ADHD, conduct disorder, attachment disorder, developmental delays, and cognitive impairment. Brenda authoredĀ  ā€œRecognizing and Managing Children with Fetal Alcohol/Syndromeā€ published by the Child Welfare League of America, andĀ  ā€œParenting Your Older Adopted Childā€ published by New Harbinger Publications and ā€œEdenā€™s Secret Journal: The Story of an Older Child Adoptionā€ published by Adoption Press and ā€œHelp Iā€™ve Been Adoptedā€ by Tapestry Books. She was the mother of fourteen children and has seven grandchildren.

Each week we will be sharing a video created by Brenda and then with her accompanying presentation,Ā  we will dive deeper into the topics each week though a facilitated discussion lead by the Coalition Family Support Specialist.

All our new ongoing online events will be held in the AFFCNY Network; a free support network for New Yorkā€™s adoptive, foster and kinship communities. The AFFCNY Network was created to provide a safe online space for New Yorkā€™s adoptive, foster and kinship families to come together in the spirit of connection and support.Ā  The AFFCNY Network is designed to be a closed social network, much like Facebook, but dedicated to the needs to the states adoptive, foster and kinship families. Ā

Members create personal profiles, connect with people they know and can form different communities, topics and discussions based on their familyā€™s needs, interests, challenges or location. Familiar features such as groups, events and private chats along with notifications and a wonderfully adapted mobile application are sure to make the AFFCNY Network a much needed oasis that families can go to again and again.
