Join us asĀ Lynn L Cole, MS, RN, PPCNP-BC from University of Rochester Medical Center will present information and engage in dialogue from audience members regarding Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).
This parent-focused presentation will provide an overview of the diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and ways parents and other caregivers can support their child.
We will discuss:
- How prenatal alcohol affects the brain
- Common learning and behavior challenges, and how these relate to areas of the brain impacted by alcohol
- Ways children with FASD present at different ages
- Common misconceptions about FASD
- How to understand behavior challenges with FASD in mind
- Ways to work well with school teams to support a child with FASD
