John first learned about AGAPE after adopting the bravest 12-year-old daughter in the world in 2016.  John then began participating in AGAPE training and support groups. Those groups included: Adoption Parenting Support, Reframing Parenting Course 2017, How Trauma Rewires the Brain, attending the NYS Foster Care & Adoption Conference (2018), Trans-racial Parenting Support, The Language of Anti-racist Parenting, and the Dad Squad (monthly peer support for Dads).

After several years of continued participation in AGAPE support, he started working with the Adoptive and Foster Family Coalition of New York as a Family Support Specialist on June 28, 2021.

He and his spouse have 2 children, a biological son, and an adopted daughter. 

John earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics from Ohio State University and has had a diverse career as a medical device development engineer prior to joining AFFCNY.  In 2003, while working to develop surgical treatment of traumatic brain injury; John developed an avocational interest in cognitive psychology and positive psychology and continues to read avidly learning about brain function, structure, and human development.  

John is also an active artist and glass sculptor, loves to hike, camp, and do landscape photography.
