Tom Draffen was born, adopted, and raised in Fulton County, New York.  He has been in reunion with his birth family since 2018, including his birth mother, half-sister, and two half-brothers.

Tom is the Chief Operating Officer of Objective Area Solutions, a public sector consulting firm committed to building effective and resilient public‐sector organizations in the civil and defense aviation sector.  Tom manages the company’s client operations, leveraging his technical experience and commitment to leadership and organizational performance to deliver value to the company’s client base and the business bottom line.  Tom is a retired U.S. Marine with a distinguished 23+ year career.  As a senior leader, Tom was recognized as an air traffic control subject matter expert and aviation policy leader. Tom’s last posting was as the senior air traffic control policy advisor for Deputy Commandant, Aviation, Headquarters, Marine Corps, establishing and executing organizational policy for the Marine Corps’ global air traffic control operations.

Tom has a B.S. in IT Management, a M.S. in Organizational Leadership, is a certified executive coach, and certified project manager. He has guest lectured for National University on consulting and teaches as adjunct professor lecturer with American University’s Key Executive Institute.
