Teen Week will occur during the 2nd FULL week of each month . Our Adoptive Teen groups are a remarkable part of our youth services, where pre-teens and teen youth have safe space virtually to connect, grow and learn alongside other adoptive youth and facilitators with lived experience. Topics explored in the Teen groups will range from (but are not limited to): Identity formation, Social Media safety, Bullying Prevention and much more.

The Teen Groups are facilitated by Mac Morris, Kylie Regan and  Jade Sudock.

Teen Week programming is only open to current/prospective (in process) AGAPE Families.

AFFCNY NETWORK 2020

Helping the Teen Years Go Smoother for All

The teen years are often tough for all kids and adoption does add another layer. While we all know that parents are encouraged to communicate with their children about adoption, many adopted teenagers are reluctant to share their innermost feelings. Some pre-teens and teens may not have even have the words to describe how they feel.  Having peers, their own age, who share the those same questions and shared experiences really can really be helpful to opening the doors to better communication. And as teens communicate with peers and mentors they have their feelings validated. Validation often makes it easier for them to talk more openly with their parents.
