2023 New York State Foster Care Boarding Rates Increase Update

As a result of the Coalition's lawsuit, families all over the state are seeing increases in foster care boarding rates. Previously, the state set a minimum and a maximum rate and each county could set the rate based on their budget. The lawsuit has eliminated that range and now each county must pay a standard base rate.

Mapping the Life Course of Adoption Project

The Coalition believes in elevating the voices and lived experiences of adult adopted persons to benefit their physical and emotional health. This study Is a national adoptee-led and community-engaged project aimed at mapping the life course of adoption in adulthood and the role of adoptee-led groups/connections as a resource for thriving adulthoods. We find the project and survey they are conducting to be of vital importance and encourage all adopted adults to take the time to complete the survey.

6 Million in Grants to Mitigate the Impact of Trauma in Schools

NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) is seeking grant applications from New York state school districts for their "Mitigating the Impact of Trauma in Schools" initiative which will grant up to 61 separate awards with a total funding of up to $100,000 annually to implement training and curriculum that will enhance schools’ capacity to be trauma-responsive.

MUST PASS | DO SUPPORT The Adoptee Citizenship Act of 2021 (ACA or ACA21) HR1593 and S967 pending in the U.S. Congress that would amend U.S. immigration law to repeal a loophole that has operated to deny automatic U.S. citizenship to thousands of intercountry adoptees who were adopted by U.S. citizen parents, some more than sixty years ago.
